Day 194 - 5 Years of Bank Statement

Are you so impressed with my artistic abilities?  I was impressed with myself.

These are bank statements dating 2007 to 2011.  Shouldn't this be enough for a day's worth?

Day 190 - Final TMNT Action Figures

Finally!  This is the last bit of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection.

Here are 16 action figures and over 10 accessories.

One turtle's legs are pulled of his body, there's an Olympics skiier, weightlifter, & swimmer, Casey Jones, and even a dinosaur for a turtle to ride.

I will admit after all these days of turtles it was kinda fun to go through them all and remember from my own childhood even though these were all DH's.

Today it's even more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle accessories, but this batch has a pretty cool little sidekick.  It's a dog with a fire hose and helmet.  And on the right are some roller blades.  Remember this is like 1990ish.

Today's selection includes 26 various figurines from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Day 178 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cardboard

These are cardboard pieces to many of DH's childhood Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection.  I'm not sure why he kept them or more important why I have kept them around for 8 plus years!  At least they will be useful to figuring out which toys/weapons go to which figures.

Friday Narrative - TMNT Bonanza!

I'm late on the Friday Narrative but I just want to give a heads up that the next week or more will be filled with DH's childhood Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection.  Sorry it's boring (unless you're a huge TMNT fan . . . maybe), but I'm behind and this will help catch me up!

Day 177 - More Boxes & Packing Materials

Okay, these are the last of the boxes (I think) that were in the basement 'ebay' closet. There are 13 boxes and well over 13 other carboard pieces that I probably thought to use when shipping in manilla envelopes to make the packaging more sturdy.  I was surprised to find a box full of them as I didn't know I'd saved anything like it.

That closet gets emptier & emptier.  Next up will a bunch of stuff I thought I'd try to sell on ebay.  After four years of managing to sell maybe a dozen things I'm just putting in all in the garage sale.  I want it out of the house and someone else can sell it on ebay if they think it's just that good.

Day 176 - Playdough

DH's job has excellent benefits.  One we particularly enjoy is significantly subsidized in-home childcare.  It has a limited amount of hours per year but we find it very helpful when I need to go to the doctor for myself or for one of the kids.  Rather than DH coming home from work in the middle of the day, a caregiver comes to the house and I don't have to take 4 little girls to an appointment.

Earlier this week we used this great benefit, and for the first time had a not-so-great sitter.  She was nice enough but she let DD#3 play with playdough and it ended up all over the table, the kitchen floor, the carpet in the family room and even down the hall in the office carpet.  It was all rolled into tiny pellets of mixed colors.  After a large clean-up job in which 95% of the playdough was thrown out because it was completely dry, I also decided to throw out a bunch of the little jars the playdough has arrived in over the years.  I was surprised to find these are NOT stamped as recyclable.  Bummer.

I think I'll have to restock our playdough supply soon.  Good thing DD#3's birthday is just a few days away.  I was having trouble thinking of what to get her that won't add to the clutter and that's she'll enjoy.  Fresh playdough is a perfect solution.  I'll just a get a 4 pack - let's keep it simple!

Day 175 - More Boxes

Yes, it's even more boxes from the basement 'ebay' closet.  Here are 26 that I saved.  It was a little fun to see what we ate 4-5 years ago.  The chicken nuggets from back when had a Costco card, lots of graham crackers, major instant oatmeal, some organic and some not.  Most interesting is the pink box of instant oatmeal called Monkey Brains.  I picked it up at my favorite clearance food store a whole buck - the price tag was still attached.  =^)

Day 174 - Kid Papers

I cleared out a few paper piles from the office today.  These are all kid art projects.  I tend to set these "gifts" aside in a place where they kids won't see them.  If anyone asks about a particular card or coloring sheet or picture I can usually lay hands on it.  If noone asks for a week I generally toss it.  The stack on top of the fridge gets regularly reycled but I guess I forgot there was also a stack in the office.

Day 173 - Boxes

My most recent foray into that basement closet yielded all these boxes.  There are 26 and it took about 15 minutes to collapse them all for recycling.  Why do I have so many?  I was going to sell stuff on ebay, of course, and needed the boxes for shipping.  Silly me.

Day 172 - Kid Clothes

I had about 7 loads of laundry sitting on my couch all week . . . I finally got it folded and found lots of things to part with.

1. Winter coat
2. Read sweater - will be outgrown by next winter
3. Pink corderoy jacket - super cute but we have so much outerwear that doesn't get worn!
4. Red fleece
5. Pink hoodie
6 to 13. Outgrown items
14. Sweatshirt completly ruined when DD#2 got berry juice on it and tossed it, wet, in her laundry basket.  It's covered in berry stains and mildew.  Rats.
15. Love this tank, but when I put it on DD#3 for the first time this summer it had a big hole in it where she probably took scissors to it LAST summer.
16. Totally stained kitchen washcloth
17. A sock that got sucked into the vacuum and destroyed - can you see the holes?
18. Matching sock
19. Tights with a hole
20. Diaper cover whose velcro isn't sticky anymore
21 & 22. Shoes whose velcro isn't sticky anymore
23 & 24. Shoes DD#4's motor therapist says not to use anymore
25 & 26. Shoes DD#4 has outgrown.

After all the super easy posts lately this one felt like a lot of work!

Day 171 - Bubble Wrap

Oh yes, it IS a giant pile of bubble wrap!  While I'm sure my kids would have loved to go crazy with this abundance of fun . . . I gave it to my neighbor who is starting to pack up her house for a move this summer.  It filled two trash bags.  But I am not a completely heartless mommy, I did set aside a few pieces for popping fun on a rainy day.

This was also all on the floor of the basement closet.  I don't know how long it's been since I've seen the actual floor of the that closet, but it's visible in patches now.  Hurrah!

Friday Narrative- Basement Closet

Just a quick note today.  I'm still working slowly on the office, but will have a few posts this week emptying out a basement closet.  It runs the length of our stairs and is pretty full of packing materials and things I figured I'd sell on ebay one day.  I need to empty it to continue our very slow basement remodel.

I also am getting busy pricing garage sale stuff for a sale I have with my cousin every year.  That's coming up in a few weeks so I'll be very busy sticking tags on a huge amount of stuff that's accumulated for ProjectTwentySix.

Day 167 - Real Simple Magazines

My Real Simple magazines are up to three years old.  I really, really hoped to read them but I am realizing this is just not a stage in my life when I get to enjoy magazines much.  Those little legs belong to DD#3.

Day 165 - Ribbons

Today I was searching for a hair ribbon for one of the girls and was frustrated by this mess of ribbons in the bathroom.  I ended up, like always, just trimming a length of what I needed from a spool.  I even keep a plastic shoebox full of spools in varying colors and a pair of scissors in the bathroom.  Why do I have a bag of random ribbons that make me crazy?!?

Here's what was in the bag, plus a couple other items.  Noteworthy are the "ruler" ribbons I bought way back in college when I loved to make pigtails and have never, not once, worn them.  Not my best purchase.  =^)

Katie

p.s. Shout out to Dayna for reading faithfully and asking where I've been!  Just busy with bigger priorities, but shifting focus back here for a week or two (hopefully!).
